Sue had asked me to review this before it was posted, but I got too busy and didn't get it done in time. I did discover a few things that augment and occasionally differ from what Sue has written. I'll comment here.
Everything lined up in the intro and the first two children and also #4 William. Third child Mary Ann Corkill b 1805 had 3 illegitimate children by George Looney as Sue noted and I was able to trace all 3 if anybody needs it. Mary Ann herself dropped the "Ann" middle name and is in all the census's in Maughold, unmarried, with children and grandchildren through 1881. She likely matches the burial of Mary Corkill age 81 Maughold 8 Sep 1885.
The statement: "William Garrett & Mary Ann Corkill married Maughold 29 Mar 1846" is a different couple in Ramsey 1851, so not relevant to this family.
Child #5 Robert 1811 I determined is not in any census and either died early or emigrated. The Robert who married Jane Hogg is not this Robert. I think he's the son of David Corkill & Mary Callow, baptized 2 Oct 1808 Maughold and died 11 Feb 1880 Douglas. He's a grandson of James Corkill & Bahee Lawson, discussed in Sue's intro. He married three Janes: Jane Hogg 14 Jul 1832 (children Mary, John, maybe Daniel, and Robert). Jane #1 buried 3 Jul 1845 Maughold age 37. Married Jane Corkill as a widower 28 Nov 1846 Maughold and she died before 1851 (3 potential burials in Brian's list). Robert is a Tailor age 42 Widower in 1851. Married #3 Jane, Jane Quine 25 Jun 1854 Braddan, and the marriage says he was a widower father David Corkill and she was single father Thomas Quine.
The 1874 burial age 62 at Ramsey is yet another Robert, bapt 29 Jul 1810 Maughold s/o John Corkill & Joney Joughin. He was a shoemaker and married late in life to a widow Margaret Martin nee Kneen 22 Nov 1864. He was single, father John Corkill. He'd be a first cousin because his father John (b 1777 md Joney Joughin 1801) was brother to William Corkill (b 1779 md Cath Kelly 1800). Their parents were John Corkill (1736-1798) of Ballnagorry Maughold & Jane Skillicorn (1749-1823) md Lonan 25 Aug 1771.
I did a bit of research for #6 John, and couldn't find anybody within range in 1841 or 1851 that likely would be him. So I think he also either died early or emigrated.
#7 Mathew / Matthias and #2 Catharine disappear after the 1861 census, with no burial or death records found on island or in England. I have a theory that they emigrated late in life, and wonder if the two sons Robert and John also emigrated before 1841. If they didn't die early, they'd be in their 20s by 1835 so there's lots of possibilities.
