Re: Caesar Cain(e)/Jane Joughin

Hi Pauline
Thanks for contacting me. It's good to hear from you. I've a great fondness for the line of Caesar and James Henry. Unfortunately, after a great deal of work, I found that they weren't mine. My great grandfather was William Cain b. Hulme abt 1854 but, sadly, not Edwin's brother. William's marriage cert shows that his father was Edward Cain (the perils of trying to do this on a budget!). I say sadly, as the marriage cert appears to be the first record of William on an official document, i.e. no apparent birth cert. I think my William was born in Braddan 1821, father John Cain, mother Mary Anne Boyne, but can't be sure.
I really enjoyed exploring what has turned out to be your line. My herione was young Joney Jane Quiggin, who married old John Cain in 1754 after his first wife Ann Mylchreest had died, and gave birth to John, who kept the line going. Joney's Will is wonderful!
There was a very difficult tangle of Cains and Mylchreests intermarrying from 1701 to about 1716 that caught my attention, and only later did I spot my error. I must admit, I'm still interested in John and Ann and, particularly whose they were, if you've managed to crack that one!
Best wishes
