Charles JOUGHIN bapt 30 June 1757 Andreas, son of Andrew Joughin (1728-1810 - see will) & Joney SAYLE (d.1814).
Andrew's sister Ann bapt 9 May 1731, my ancestor, married John JOUGHIN of Leodest, Andreas.
The Joughin family of Leodest & Ballalettis, Andreas, was a completely separate line to the Charles Joughin one of Smeal, Andreas. This is worth noting, because an early Joughin family in the USA wrote a family tree which combined the two families, was filmed by the LDS Church, and is now copied online onto numerous family trees.

The earliest record I have of your Joughin family line is Christopher JOUGHIN [alive 1688] and his wife Catherine JOUGHIN als CHRISTIAN who d.1669 Andreas [Arch will LDS 0106201]

“The father Christopr Joughin” mentioned in 1669 will. Northside Sales for Andreas record 1675 John Sayle to Christr Joughin a sale of a pcell of Qland of 5d Rent of an Intack of 2d Rent no.43.

[Generation 2] Charles JOUGHIN “Charles Joughin Senr” was buried 18 Feb.1723/4 [died 18th]; married 8 Oct.1669 Ann THORP who was buried as Ann Joughin als "Throp" 27 Dec.1705 [Andreas parish register].
Ann JOUGHIN will 1705 Andreas, Arch. no.55 LDS 0106209.
Charles JOUGHIN will 1723/4 Andreas Arch no. 38 LDS 0106212.

The five surviving children of Charles Joughin & Ann Thorp were:
[1] Ann marr.Thomas KINREAD 7 July 1713, aunt supervisor of brother John's underage children when he died.
“Philip Joughin & Thomas Kinread do hereby acknowledge to have recd at & from the hands of Bahy the late wife of John Joughin the full sum of twenty shillings; which was due to them from their mother Ann Joughin als Throp decd…” March 29 1725. [This may be the Lezayre Kinread family - Thomas Snr bur. Lezayre 1720 in Andreas register.]

[2] John bap. 10 Feb. 1672 son of Charles Joughin, d.1709. [See below]

[3] Ellin/Nelly bap. Feb. 1677/8 marr. Philip KNEALE, grandson John Kneal in Charles's 1724 will.

[4] Philip bap.4 Feb. 1679/80; died 1763. Philip married Catherine TEAR who died 4 Nov.1723. Arch. decree 1723 Andreas of Catherine Joughin als TEAR: 5 children John, William, Joney (married William CORKILL 1748), Daniel, Catherine (married William McNAMEER). Eldest of age but unable to look after the children so husband Philip Joughin is sworn.

It was eldest son [2] John bap. 10 Feb. 1672 son of Charles Joughin, d.1709 who many people have put on LDS film and online as dying in 1737/8 – but this is WRONG, as is the descent – that was a different John Joughin, from the other Andreas family.
Andreas confirmations have "Charles son of John Joughin Decd" in 1718.
Charles Joughin's will [died 17 Feb. 1723/24] mentions the money owing from the execrs of John Joughin, who predeceased his father.

[Generation 3] John JOUGHIN 1672-1709.
John Joughin "perished at sea coming from Scotland" August 1709.
His four children were named as Charles, Nelly, Ann, and John. The next of kin on the father's side were Philip, Ann, and Nelly Joughin. [Nelly = Ellin bap. Feb.1677/8]

John Joughin 1672-1709 married Bahee LACE of Ballaseir, Andreas, who was buried 23 Jan.1747. She was the daughter of John Lace, Arch. will 1701 no.63, Andreas.

Articles of Agreement were made "by & between Charles Joughin and his mother Bahee Joughin of Kk Andrews Jann 25th 1734".
"--- It is Agreed upon, and ye above Bahee Joughin doth hereby oblige herself to settle upon her sd son Charles Joughin, in perfect succ=session, during her Natural Life all her Right to ye profits of John Sayle's Estate of Larivane wth her Right to ye Estate wherein her sd son now dwells..." etc.

[Generation 4] Charles JOUGHIN bapt. Dec.1701 married 13 Nov.1722 Mary Cleater [daur of John Cleater & Jony Caine]. Charles Joughin buried Andreas 20 Jan.1779.

"Articles of Marriage Concluded & Agreed upon by and betwixt Bahey Joughin als Lace in behalf of her son Charles Joughin on ye one pt and Jo: Cleater & his wife Jony in behalf of their daugr Mary Cleater ye other party all of ye parish of KK Andreas as follows..." etc.

Andrew bap.27 Nov.1728, bur.1810, marr. Joney Sayle 22 Feb.1757, bur.1814; and Ann bap. 9 May 1731 married John Joughin [see top of message] were two of their 8 children.
