Thank you for your reply Richard. Since my original message I have spoken to two family members who also know very little about my father but told me he emigrated to New Zealand in the mid 1930's. he was in the NZ army and fought at Monte Casino.
The names William Henry seem to come up frequently, along with Ladybarn and Chorlton. The Cleaver part of my fathers name is a family name. I have visited his cousins family in Wythenshawe, Manchester, this year and 2007. They say they know nothing about my father.
I knew he had a half sister named Dorothy and found reference to her on Genes Reunited as Dorothy Ida Wylde so am guessing Susan Ida separated from Otho but had to name her child with her new partner with her surname.
