I have been revisiting my 1851 Census notes, in an attempt to write 40 years of reseach into manageable sections that my family can understand.
My first attempt at finding John Quayle, tailor, and his wife Margaret in this Census found them living at Cornelly, Greeba.
40 years on and I can no longer find them at this address on the Ancestry site 1951 Census. My original work was done from documents in the Manx Museum in 1970.
Tonight I have read every family in Marown and German and have found them, 1851, in German, farming.......
I'm really beginning to doubt my own college essay.
Could I have been wrong? If so how did I know about Cornelly Greeba?
Both John and Margaret are buried in Marown, with 'Tailor of this parish' written on headstone. (John died 1869)
Any advice on this problem would be most appreciated.
