Re: Descendants of Thomas Fargher and Isabella Cra

Hi John,

Where did you find the bapt of Isabella Christian Faragher in the LDS Parish Registers on 17/1/1822? Which parish, and were her parents the same as for her brothers? I ask because I couldn't find any daughters' bapts with the parents Thomas Fargher/Faragher and Isabella Craine.

The closest record I could find which fitted Isabella from the 1841 census was a marriage between Isabella Fargher & Daniel Craine 16 Feb.1847 in Lezayre. Their first child (1848) was Thomas Daniel Craine, then Isabella Jane (1849). Censuses show George born two years later, and Alfred Benjamin aged 3 mths in 1861. All b.Lezayre, as was Isabella. Her husband Daniel Craine was b.Ballaugh, but farming in Lezayre at Cladagh/Claddagh (30 acres in 1851; 40 acres in 1861).

Daniel Craine was aged 32 in 1851 (41 in 1861), and Isabella 29 in 1851 - could she be your Isabella Christian Faragher? Some people did lower their ages by several years in the 1841 census.

She was a widow aged 44 in 1871, and 54 in 1881 when she was living with Alfred as a retired farmer, at 7 Leigh Terrace (Castletown Road).

Brian Lawson's burials have "CRAINE, Daniel 48 Lezayre 14 Nov 1862".
There is a will for Daniel Craine 1863 Lezayre A[rch], [no]73, [LDS no.] 0106265, and several transcribed ones for related? Daniel Craines in Ballaugh.
It looks as though Shirley Hogensen was researching them a few years ago. If so, Donna might have their line.

I see that the widow of Daniel Craine d.1796 was Christian Craine - could this be where Isabella's second name Christian came from, or is that too far-fetched?
One of the Daniels mentions land in Lezayre.
