Re: Descendents of Thom F in Australia

A very brief story of Thomas and Isabel's sons Daniel and Robert and their descendents will in Australia.
Daniel and Robert came to Australia in 1852 at the ages of 27 and 24 and went to the gold fields West of Melbourne. They changed the spelling of their name from Fargher to Faragher. After three years they moved to farming country 25 km West of Melbourne. They each married and had families of five young children. Daniel and his wife died at 43 and 39 years old leaving five children aged 3 to 15 and Robert's family looked after them. Daniel's children spread, the most settled around Drouin 100 km east of Melbourne. Two sons were carpenters like their father and there were two or three "maiden aunts", one who made beautiful crochet work, another a keen gardener and another a local shopkeeper (haberdashery). Those children continued the tradition of looking after those less fortunate than themselves in Daniel and Robert's family. Daniel's grandchildren then were naturally spread far and wide. Some of Daniel's descendents can unfortunately inherit motor neurone disease. Robert continued farming and in 1892 at the time of his death had approximately 25 acres. His family too have spread around Melbourne and Sydney. Several have been doctors and vetererinary surgeons. Daniel and Robert, their wives and some of their young children are buried in that area 25 km West of Melbourne. There is now a seventh generation in Australia which means there are many descendents spread far and wide. There was a large reunion in 1994 and a big family tree drawn up for the occasion. I can probably get a copy of that if anyone wants it. I visited Man for a few days in 1980 and "felt at home" and researched my family tree back to Thomas & Isabel and beyond, but not back to the current day. My brother visited a few years before that. There are other Faragher's and Fargher's in Australia who may or may not be related.
