Hi Frances,
Yes there was discussion which was great help. Not only did it help me trace the Gilmore, but also Hudson, Watterson, Curry, Fell and Saint. Id just like everyone to know who contributes to this site how important it is. I had very limited information on my grandfather Alexander Millar but due to a lady called Carol I was able to establish a lot of clues. Carol looked up my grandparents marriage certificate which revealed he was a widow and his father was a publican named Henry Millar, From this "seed" I traced his first wife Jane Dunderdale who died on the island, they had three sons, William, Henry and a boy named Alexander , Alexander was born on the island 1890. I was also able to trace and obtain my Great Grandparents marriage certificate - 1849. This lists both their fatherss names, residents, occupations, witnesses. Ultimately I found my Great Grandfathers did own a pub in Holywood, Ireland and he left a will which is held by the Public Record Office Northern Ireland. I had the will transcribed and it states my Great Grandparents had five boys and a daughter. Most important of all I was able to find where my Grandfather was buried and other relatives in the same grave. Thank you Carol you opened a whole list of avenues by assisting me with one document. Thats how important all you volunteers are, thank you again.
Regards
Frank Millar
