Hi David,
Thank you so much for all your work, that's marvellous. I can't believe that after being mystified all these years, it's only now I realise that it wasn't a case of she married Robert Clague OR went to Australia and that perhaps the reason I couldn't find them in later censuses was because they might both be in Australia!
I've only now started looking for Robert Clague - it seemed such a needle in a haystack with such a common name and no other appearance of them together apart from the marriage record.
There is a Robert Clague baptised in Lezayre 11 Feb 1819 s/o John Clague & Elizabeth Killey IGI ext
Searching for other children of John Clague & Elizabeth in Lezayre gives mother's name Kelly apart from Robert
William c. 8 Aug 1824
Elizabeth Jane 5 Nov 1826
William James 29 Jan 1830
Anne 1 Apr 1832
Found this family, I think in the 1841 census at Ballabrooie, Lezayre
John Clague, 55, ag lab
Elizabeth, 50,
Robt, 20, ag lab
Billy. 10
Jane, 15,
Ann, 10
Robt isn't with them in 1851, as would be expected for his age, but looks promising. However, all a bit guesswork!
How wonderful it would be if that was Jane Cavendish Clague arriving in Adelaide! Very exciting.
Thank you once again for all your efforts. I wonder where I can go from here?
