Don't you just LOVE knocking down walls!! I have just SMASHED one by finding my Isle of Man family :) Alexander Cain b 1862 (Ireland) son of Alexander James CAIN b 1821 Bradden, IoM; d 1878 Durham and Ann CAIN b 1834 Ouchan, IoM was my Great grandfather who has eluded me for many frustrating years! I have now found him thanks to census records on Find My Past. I'm so excited. However, I am holding my breath a little .... as there are still some bubbles that may burst. GGfather Alexander's marriage and death certs have conflicting information regarding his parents names. His father's can perhaps be explained. Certificates state father as James, so I'm hoping Alexander James, son of Alexander and father of Alexander born in Scotland was known by his second name James. That would explain that glitch. Mother's name is more problematical. Both certificates give mother as Elizabeth SLOSS. Now unless Ann was Elizabeth Ann SLOSS, or died young and Alexander J remarried to Elizabeth....HELP!!!
I would be VERY, VERY grateful for any assistance from anyone, in regard to this branch of my family. In exchange I can an plenty of information and willing to do research for others down here in Australia, expecially in Victoria. My Alexander, came to Australia as a young man as did his older sister Jane. They origninally settled in South Australia, but Alexander came on to Ballarat (goldfields area). Looking forward to your responses PLEEEEEESE! Lynne Graham
