By using the batch numbers detailed on the weblink you mentioned, only the records extracted from the parish registers will show up, not the patron submitted records. The submitted records are contained in wholly separate batch numbers not detailed in the link you provided. The submitted records do not overwrite extracted records in the IGI, they exist side by side.

Yes, since these extracted records are in reality a transcription for index purposes, there will be a human error element. So, as for all documentation, the original, or images thereof, is the ultimate source.

I have been told that the IGI records brought into the LDS New Family Search website will be the extracted records only, and they will not be identified as the IGI but will carry the batch numbers noted in your link. It appears the IGI database will be broken down into numerous geographical databases (IOM will be one), and it is the intent of the Church to where ever possible digitize the images they have and link them to the databases.
