The hand in 1841 is not good but (and I'm afraid Brian made several mistakes even on his 2nd corrected edition - the first having been based on the copy made for the Island which in sections was unreadable) but I read margt (May in the few other places found was always an error) - ages of females (especially unmarried) are I found usually deflated especially if puts them lower than 30 - in 1851 Wm is merely indicated as Manx born (a lazy enumerator) but in 1861 gives Douglas as birth.
The age of Matt in 1841 is given as 67 - usually I've found when such unrounded ages are given for (& by) older folk they are often reliable - this age also matches a baptismal date for a Braddan/douglas Matthias (not that common a name) - Wm is consistent with age in 51 + 61 - hence my 'very provisional' as I said identification - his occupation + address would also fit. I'll admit the 'widowed' was somewhat of a guess but if my identification of a father living with 2 unmarried ch was accurate in vast majority of other cases it was a widower - I have a large database of pre1841 baptisms most checked against 1911 copy (and many against actual registers) - easy to match birth place + dates - surprisingly only a couple of Wms fit (assuming legitimate but illegs of Wm's age would normally be servants or other menial jobs away from mother)
Hence my reasoning to give a family that could bear some further scrutiny - the poster asked for help in trying to get back
