I was under the impression that Betzy Teare married Mark Christian on the Isle of Man since their daughter, Catherine Christian, referred to as "Lattie", is one of the people that sent letters from the Isle of Man to Teares in the US. However, though Steven Thomas found Catherine Christian in later censuses, she was born 03 Feb 1847, he was unable to find Betzy (possibly Elizabeth?) Tear or Mark Christian. I think the Mark Christian that you found who was born in 1814 sounds like a possibility. Maybe if I could follow his trail, I might run into Betzy Teare. If you have any more information on him, I would be most grateful. Of course I am already grateful for all you have provided up to this point.
