I have just picked up your posts of 2007 and they have helped me in my work on the Surplice family. I agree with the comment that the Welles refered to as marrying Eliza Christian is the son Of Welles and Agnes Jane White.
I have just ordered his death certificate along with that of his wife Elizabeth (Eliza) who died at the age of 101. I had done this because I was stuck with proving that my assumptions on his parentage was correct and I had been unable to find a marriage for them until I found your posts.
From the BDM lists it appears that they had one daughter Annie in 1926 in Liverpool.
