Eliza may have been my great aunt. Her father was John Kelly and I have always thought of her as Eliza Kelly but she was born before her parents married so she may have been Eliza Christian when her birth and marriage were registered. I hadn't thought of this until I saw the entry for the Surplice/Christian marriage on Brian's site. My Dad's sister told me years ago that Surplice was a family name but it only registered with me again when I saw that entry.
