Re: James Clegg, shipwright L'pool, b IOM 1825

I am not overly inclined to go back over the numerous censuses, wills and Civil Registration entries cited in this thread. I am convinced that the parentage of James Clegg who is the father of James Whitehead Clegg are as for my great grandfather Thos Caesar Clegg's mother Catherine -- that Catherine and James are siblings. It boils down to two christenings of children of Thomas Clague and wife Esther Kneen. Those for James and for his brother Robert. They simply didn't get recorded in the parish records or if they did, the notation was lost. The couple (Thos and Esther) had twelve children. The records for two consecutive births, James and Robert, fell through the cracks. In at least one case, there is a christening that could correspond to Robert. The original Parish Transcript has been consulted and added nothing to what was found in extracting the name Clague from the LDS film Namely:
Title Parish register transcripts of St. Anne, 1690-1883.
Baptisms, 1690-1916; FHL BRITISH Film

Notes taken April 24, 1981
___________ son of Thomas Clague and ____________? [blanks in text] baptised March 18, 1827.

Santon Parish Register, original document seen at MNHL 15.07.05:

The consultation at the Manx Museum thanks to Sylvia P.

But please, oh please I would be very interested in knowing what became of the descendants of James Clague. Maybe amongst family tradition handed down in that branch of the family can be found clues that will put James firmly in my family tree. I can say that I can put my hands on images of at least two of what I believe to be James' siblings and that alone should be worth your putting me in touch with his interested descendant. Alright. One is published already on the Manx notebook site under Mrs. William Clegg in the Memorial Notices section and another of the same person was published in the May 2008 IOMFHS bulletin. That's my best shot.
