Jennifer, you might be interested in seeing a photo (copy obtained from Manx Museum by a cousin) of an informal group of servants at Kentraugh taken in 1864. Of course, your Jane Cubbon was by then in Liverpool, but it would give you some mental image of the place --- and also there's an interesting piece in Manx Notebook about Kentraugh House

It's interesting that Jane Cubbon's mother was a Crebbin, and Jane's daughter married a George Crebbin. Have you researched George's family ? I haven't yet looked at the link between Jane Turnbull nee Cubbon and the Ann Cubbon 34, unm visitor, in 1861. I don't think they were sisters, as the IGI has a sister, Ann, bap 1843 who would have been 18 in 1861, and the IGI says she died in 1848 (though that needs checking out.)
The link between John Turnbull, nephew, and Isabella Clague, widow, in the 1861 household is that they each had a Cregeen mother, though I haven't looked at the relationship in detail.
So there's lots of scope for research there !
