Further to my last post it appears that there may have been more than one generation of a Rev Caesar Caine.
In the History of Methodism a Rev Caesar Caine, a Manxman, but then living in an English circuit, stated, in 1802, that he was leaving Methodism for reasons that concerned an alleged 'departure from the teachings of the founder.' etc etc
Other records of writings by a Rev Caesar Caine list dates of 1877,1883, 1891, and 1897.
In support opf Greg Kaighin's comments re 'farming; 1n 1963 a Caesar Caine was listed as a principal land proprietor. So the mists, instead of clearing have thickened a little. But it is interesting.
