We are seeking information about our ancestor who emigrated to Australia during the gold rush around 1854. His name is John Bremner and he was born at Peel on the Isle of Man in about 1830. His father was William Bremner (butcher) and his mother, Ann Shanne.
The family always believed that John Bremner came to Australia from Scotland, which may indicate that he, or his family, moved to Scotland prior to his departure for Australia. Alternatively, it may be the result of ignorance about the location of the Isle of Man.
