I can't thank you enough for the information you are finding for me. I've just caught up with your last few messages and can't wait to show them to my mother. John Thomas Costain was born 1877 (my brother confirms that that is what it says on his grave - but he thought it said July (has still to check his notes).

I'm delighted with the Margaret Quirk/ John Costain information - and have just obtained a photograph of them taken at their marriage in 1882. I got in touch with a fellow-descendant in New Zealand via Ancestry.co.uk just after posting my first query to you! And she tells me that many of her old photos came from John Qualtrough and his wife!!

I think I will have to join the FHS and get hold of the journal and photo - thanks again for everything, and I can't wait to come over and see if I can track down some of these graves etc.
