In the Nov 2007 issue of the IOMFHS journal, Collector's Corner page, there was a photo of 3 small children which Priscilla Lewthwaite had labelled "Tom Costain's children of Colby tc 1885" and I've been trying to fathom out which particular family this was, and if they were connected to yours, Morag.

Does anyone know the answer to this ?

The best I can offer is this :

William Costain bap 2 Aug 1874 Arbory
Mary Costain b circa 1877--can't find birth in IGI
Amy Sarah Costain b 20 Jan 1879 Arbory

they are 3 of the youngest 4 children of Thomas Costain b 1837 (son of Wm Costain and Jane Cubbon ) and Elizabeth Kinvig.

In the photo the boy looks 7 / 8, and the girls look 4 / 5 and 2 / 3.

If I've got the correct family, then the photo was taken in 1881/2. The youngest of the 3 children , Amy Sarah, married Richard Crosthwaite 11 June 1902 Arbory.
