I was saddened to learn of Brian's death. Like so many Manx researchers outside the Isle I was helped in numerous occasions by Brian speedily looking up census details and making helpful suggestions for further research. Later when he put his indexes on line I found them invaluable and consulted them often. In the past year or so I did some will transcriptions and thus had a number of contacts with him. Again he was always speedy and helpful in response. His contribution to Manx genealogy was truly outstanding and his indexes will be a lasting memorial to his tireless and selfless work. Well done, Brian, good and faithful servant! My sympathies to all his family on the loss of this kind, helpful,generous, thoughtful man.
