Hi Len, Your information is interesting - but throws mine into some doubt! I thought James Moughtin had married Eliza Skillicorn in the Isle of Man. They both appear in the 1841 census there. And this line of Moughtins didn't use the name Morton until the next generation. But as he was a ships carpenter maybe they went to Liverpool and married there. I have found a reference in 1840 for a James Morton getting married in Liverpool but not one for Eliza Skillicorn. Could you send me motre details of the reference you have so that I can explore it further?
