I am wondering and wondering why this McEwan name has popped up a couple of times. looking more closely at the bible, I see that Sarah Jane Phillips/Vannan entered that her father Thomas Phillips died Dec. 27, 1895 at age 52. That would have made Sarah Jane only about 10 or 11 years old...perhaps her mother remarried a McEwan...this is news to me! This is the Sarah that was born a decendant of Robert Burns, the poet. She named her son Robert Burns Phillips, who went to Canada. This Sarah died April 15, 1923.
