Unfortunately 1844 was before they started adding father's details to the marriage records, so we hadn't found proof of who she was. The 1881 census and her MI gave her birth date as c.1819, and the closest Mary Caine on the IGI bapt Malew is Mary CAIN 20 SEP 1818, Father: JOHN CAIN, Mother: MARY TAGGYRT.
I don't know whether earlier censuses would help identify her?
