they were part of the35th Division(Bantams) they were with the104th Brigade
of this Division along with the 17th and 20th Lancs.Fus. at the battle of Trones Wood they suffered many casualties and were withdrawn from action decimated and exhausted.From the date of Sidney Earles death and that fact that he is he is recorded on the
Tyne Cot. Memorial i would suggest that he became a casualty during the Third
Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele) 31st July 1917 to 6th Nov 1917. By the time
this Battle ended over half a million British -Canadian -Australian -New Zealand -French and Germans had become casualties
