saints.
Numerous feasts: Annunciation (March 25), Assumption (Aug
15) and navity (Sept 8). In Manx the Assumption was 'Laa'l
Moirrey toshee' - Mary's chief feast day.
Marian devotion was strong in 12th Century England where
Mary was seen as intercessor.
In Mann Mary was especially connected with the Cistercian
devotion to her as seen in the dedication of Rushen Abbey
and also in the present arms of the bishopric.
