THE King, to all, to whom, &c., Greeting. Know that for the good and safety of our subjects, in the Island of Man, we have granted and given permission to honest men of the Island aforesaid, that they may treat and agree with our enemies of Scotland, upon truces and suspension of hostilities, between the men of the aforesaid island and our said enemies, to endure for a reasonable time, as often as this may appear to be done for the good and safety of the said island. We have granted also and given licence to the men aforesaid, and to the community of the same island, to traffic with whomsoever they will, as well our enemies as others, for the causes aforesaid, without hinderance of us, our bailiffs, or servants whomsoever; provided that they do not, in any manner, afford assistance or succour to our enemies aforesaid, from their arms or provisions. In testimony whereof, &c. Witness the King, at Eastry,* 24th day of September. By writ of privy seal.

Sciatis quod, pro commodo et salvatione populi nostri in Insulå de Man, concessimus et licentiam dedimus probis hominibus insulæ prædictæ, quod ipsi cum inimicis nostris de Scotia, super treugis et sufferentiis guerræ, inter homines ejusdem insulæ et præfatis inimicos nostros, per tempus rationa.bile duraturis ineundis, tractare possint et coneordare quotiens hoc pro commodo gt salvatione dictæ insulæ fore viderint faciendum. Concessimus etiam et licentiam dedimus præfatis hominibus, et conmnmunitati ejusdern insulæ, quod ipsi cum quibuscumque voluerint, tare inimicis nostris quam aliis, mercandisare possint, ex sausis supradictis, absque impedimento nostri, vel ballivorum seu ministrorum nostroruin quorumcumque; Its tamen quod dietis inimicis nostris, de armaturis sut victualibus sur, auxilium seti. succursum non faciant ullo modo.
