The Census of Manx Speakers.

WE regret to record a very large decrease, as compared with the year 1901, in the number of speakers of the Manx language, as shown by the particulars received from the Census Office, London. Through the apparent neglect of certain officials, these figures have been omitted to be issued for over a year and a half later than were the 1901 census figures. Several letters have passed before the following particulars were received:-

The figures for each parish were given in the 1901 census, but are not given in the above table. The 14 males and 17 females speaking Manx only in Douglas are obviously errors, and should have been corrected by the enumerators responsible.
