[The Rev. Charles Coole was appointed Vicar of Kirk Christ Lezayre in 1640. This was his first and only spiritual charge. He was buried at Santan. The inventory is in the characteristic hand of Sir Thomas Parr. The latter is not inappropriately described by a critic as 'the ' verbose, virtue-conscious, Vicar-of-Brayish, yet ' attractive parson of Kirk Malew.']
