The following notes about the Lord's right of exporting the products of the Isle to Liverpool, duty free:-
Letter from the Lords of the Treasury to the Comrs of the Customs London 17 Aug' 1691. Allowing Lord W- to import into Liverpl (only) free of Duty Custom and Excise, 5 Ton Table Beer, 200 Bullocks, 50 Barrels White Herrings, 600wt. Feathers, 30 firkins of Puffins, 30 Do. Rock Samphire, 40 Couple Dry Fish & 3 Cast of Hawks yearly. And also to export 7 Horses, his Traveling Plate and other necessarys for the Isle wch are to return back to Britain.
The Comrs of the Customs letter to the Collr of Liverpool to obey these Orders dated London Augt 18, 1691.
N.B. In the Keys Address to the Govr ffo. 45 it is recited that the Lord had a Liberty from Parliamt to export 600 Cattle of the product of the Isle to England.
The Order refers to William II, 9th Earl of Derby, 1672-1702.
