List of Documents copied into Letter Book 3

[note this is an early version - more of a framework to add brief descriptions of papers etc]

Pages are numbered in original manuscript, the documents are not numbered - the numbering here is for ease of reference.

It would be expected that all the letters to the Home Office (as found in the HO 98 series as HO 98/68 onwards cover much of period) would be found here - but there would appear to be omitted items in both the Home Office files and the Letter Books; those with original letters in the HO 98 files are indicated. The Duke of Atholl, residing in Castle Mona in Douglas, seldom entered his letters in the official Letter Book, though he had pushed strongly for it to be used by the Lt Governor - luckily these are generally preserved in the Atholl Papers.

[note many letters still to be summarised]
