[Appendix A(12) 1792 Report of Commissioners of Inquiry]
ORDER of the GOVERNOR and COUNCIL respecting the Application of the Speaker of the House of Keys.
At Castle Rushen, Jan. 28th, 1765.
The Governor and Council, whose Names are subscribed, having taken into Consideration the Application of Mr. George Moore, Speaker of the Keys of this Isle, for having the Keys called, in order to consider of what Steps are necessary or proper for them to take upon the present Situation of Affairs, are unanimous of Opinion, that as His Grace the Lord of this Isle has repeatedly signified to the Governor that he would always look upon what concerns his People to be of the utmost Consequence to himself, and that His Grace was ready to render them every Service in his Power, and that as soon as any Steps should be taken irr these Matters he would immediately apprise him thereof ; it would, therefore, be highly improper for the Governor to interfere therein until His Graces Pleasure be further known.
