(66a) Groudle Wheel

1868 O/S Plan XIV/1 - SC 416788
constructed some 30 years later than the O/S plan

c.1897

Next to the Lady Isabella wheel probably the most photographed water-wheel on the Island - built as a picturesque ornament to the glen utilising an old mill wheel. Possibly at one time drove a small generator to feed lights along the glen - recently restored by Manx government after many years of neglect. Groudle Mill at the seaward end of the stream was acquired by the Douglas Water Company and converted into a pumping station to feed its reservoir.

Would appear to be breast-fed
