The Old Parish Church of St Mary of Ballaugh is near the coast some 2km north of the modern village; like most old Manx churches it was never in the centre of a village. Ballaugh was a Rectory and was generally reserved for one of the more senior clergy.
The Wesleyan Chapel some 100yrds from the church is now a ruin having been replaced by a new chapel built a little futher along the Jurby road (in field marked 199) but which closed many years ago.
