According to the Chronicle of Man, "after William, in the days of
Godred Crouan, Hammond, son of Jole, a Manxman, held the Episcopal
See." This is all the information we have about him, unless we are to
accept the theory that the chronology of the Chronicle is wrong and
that he is identical with a certain Wimund, elected Bishop of Man in
1134, who was afterwards ruler of the southern portion of Scotland,
and who died about the year 1170; but this is more than
doubtful."*
