The foregoing Legacies appear to be secured in the following manner, viz:-

Bond and Mortgage from John Cleator to the Rector and Wardens for £29 Manks, on certain houses, croft, and garden in Andreas, dated 8 January, 1812, bearing interest at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum.

Bond and mortgage from Thomas Fargher to the Rector and Wardens, for the sum of £22 Manks, on certain houses and lands in Andreas, dated 3 March, 1810, bearing interest at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum.

Extract from the Will of John Kneale, Regaby, A. D. 1692.

" I leave to the poor of the Parish of Andreas, my part of a certain parcel of Intack in the Curragh, of 10d. rent, purchased from John Barry, deceased, and the rent or benefit thereof, being set to the best advantage, is to be distributed yearly by the Minister and Wardens of the Parish, for the time being, to such poor, necessitated, or decayed farmer or two, as they shall find cause; and if there be none such, that it be distributed among the poorest sort of the said Parish."

The Rector and Wardens have, from time to time, sold turf out of the above lands, and with part of the proceeds thereof have purchased, from James Brew, a parcel of land, called Robert's Croft, in the said Parish, for the consideration of £98 Manks, as appears by Deed dated 24 Feby. 1797.

Also from John Harrison, a parcel of land, called Cain's Croft, in the said Parish, for the consideration of £19 British, as appears by Deed dated 31 January, 1816.

The whole of the lands before mentioned are now let for the annual rent of £7. 15s. 0d. British.

The remainder of the proceeds of the said turf has been placed at interest, as appears by promissory note from William Cleator, dated 8 October, 1814, for the sum of £5. 13s. 4d. British, interest at 5 per cent. per annum ; promissory note from Charles Cowle, dated 24 Feb., 1823, for the sum of £30. 3s. 6d. British, interest at 6 per cent. per annum;-and promissory note from Charles Moore, dated 6 Jan., 1827, for the sum of £7. 10s. 0d. British, interest at 6 per cent. per annum.

Extract from the Will of John Teare, of Andreas, A. D. 1824.

I leave to the poor of the Parish of Andreas the sum of one hundred pounds British, the same to be laid out at interest tor the use of the said poor as legacy."

" I leave the sum of fifty pounds British to the School erected on the Kerroo Garroo, in the Parish of Andreas aforesaid, to be applied towards discharging the debt thereon, and if any surplus shall remain, the same to be laid out at interest for the use of said School as salary."

A promissory note, dated 19th,Oct., 1820, from the trustees of the Methodist Chapel, in Ramsey, for the sum of £100 British, passed to the testator John Teare, has been endorsed to the Rector and Wardens as payment of the said bequest to the poor, bearing interest at 5 per cent. per annum.

The debt incurred in finishing the building of the School on the Kerroo Garroo is discharged, and the surplus, being the sum of £31 British, is placed at interest, as appears by a promissory note passed by, John Corlett, of Andreas, dated 26 March, 1827, bearing interest at 5 per cent.

This sum is in the hands of Mr. John Thomas Clarke, who has passed a promissory note to the Rector and Wardens for £2 British-, dated 14 July, 1827, bearing interest at 6 per cent.

PAROCHIAL SCHOOL. - JOHN CANNELL, Master.

 

Philip Radcliffe, by Deed dated 9 Jan., 1787, for the consideration of 20s., granted and sold to the Wardens a part of his estate called Gatt-na-Nain, to erect a School-house thereon, and for a garden for the use of a Schoolmaster.

Emanuel Moore bequeathed to the said School the sum of £30 Manks, which sum, with voluntary subscriptions, was expended in erecting, a Dwelling-house for the use of the Master.
