Archdeacon Will 1816 #27, Castletown, of William Farrant of Castletown:

"This is affirmed the last will and testament of William Farrant of Castletown deceased who departed this life on the 15 day of March 1816, but previous thereto, to wit on the thirteenth day of March 1816, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and understanding did in presence and hearing of the witnesses hereto declare and publish the testamentary words herein after mentioned as and for his last will and testament and desired us the witnesses to bear witness that the same was his last will and testament. First, he committed his soul unto Almighty God and his body unto a decent Christian burial. Secondly, he revoked and disannuled his former promise of two butts in the flat which he promised to Richard Clucas his son-in-law. Thirdly, he left devised and bequeathed unto his daughter Catharine Clucas those two butts in the flat which he promised to her husband Richard Clucas if they will remain speerated, but if not, he desired and bequeathed the same unto his wife Margaret Farrant. Fourthly, he left devised and bequeathed unto his son John Farrant all that he possessed in the world after his wife Margaret Farrant's decease and likewise to the care of his brother Robert Farrant. Lastly, he nominated, constituted and appointed his wife Margaret Farrant his whole and sole executrix of all that he possessed or was entitled unto in any wise in the world and to pay all the other cravens with sixpence legacy. Under witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names this twenty-fifth day of March on thousand eight hundred and sixteen. Witnesses: William Cubbon & John Gelling.
