Archdeacon Will, 1816, #17, Santon, of Margaret Oates:

"In the Name of God, Amen. I Margaret Oates formerly of the town of Douglas but now of the Parish of Kk St Ann, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory am disposed to make my last will and testament in manner following. First, I commit my soul and body to Christian burial. Secondly, I leave and bequeath to John Moore's three children of the town of Douglas namely John, Thomas and Charlot, twenty pounds between them reserving and leaving the interest of said twenty pounds to their mother Margret Moore alias Quiggin during her life and I do further appoint their Uncle Thos. Moore of Sulbrick guardian of the said money for the said children and to pay the said interest yearly unto their said mother 's own hands and to .... Item, I leave to my brother Richard five shillings. I leave to Phillip Faragher twenty pounds. I leave to my sister Elizabeth all my household furniture. I leave all my apparel equally between my sister Elizabeth and the said Margret Moore alias Quiggin. I leave to William Moore of the Parish of Kk Braddan ten pounds in trust for my ... to be used at the appointment of my sister Elizabeth. I leave to my nephew William Quiggin half a guinea a year during his life. I leave to my sister Elizabeth the interest of all the money that my estate will be worth after my decease to be paid into her own hands by my executrix in trust and to no other person. Lastly I nominated and appoint my three nieces, namely Elizabeth Kennagh and Jane and Elizabeth Moore sole joint executors of all my worldly goods movable and immoveable of what nature so ever excluding all persons that might claim any interest in my with six pence legacy and I do appoint the said William Moore of the Parish of Braddan guardian of my executors and executrix in trust and to pay the said interest to no other person and also the said half guinea to yearly to William Quiggin. At Ecclesiastical Court holden in Marown, 26th Apr 1816: William Moore the ... in trust by the beforegoing will appointed is sworn ex... in trust in court in form of law, and also as guardian and supervisor of the exe... John, Thomas & Charlotte therein named , they being minors, and their Uncle Thomas Moore in the said will also named is likewise proven guardian of the said minors, and he the said William Moore to exhibit a true and perfect inventory of the effects into the Archdeacon's Registry . . . Know all men by these present that I Jane Moore formerly of Santon but at present of the town of Liverpool do hereby own and acknowledge to have received from the hands of Mr. William Moore of the Parish Braddan, executor in trust of the will of Margaret Oates deceased, all such sums of money as I became entitled to by the said will. And I do hereby exonerate and discharge the said William Moore his executors, administrators, and assigns from any just claim or demand to which I am in any wise entitled ... and by virtue of the said will of the said Margaret Oates deceased, hearing date 4th day of April 1816, as witness my name this 4th day of June 1844. [signed her mark] Jane Moore Whereas Margaret Oates of the Parish of Santon departed this life and by her will did bequeath unto Phillip Faragher of the said Parish the sum of twenty pounds Manks and did appoint William Moore of the Parish of KK Braddan executor in trust of her last will, I the said Phillip Faragher do hereby acknowledge to have received from the hands of the said William Moore the said sum of twenty pounds Manks in full and by these present gives the said William Moore a full discharge for the same as witness my hand this 20th day June 1817. Know all men by these present that I Elizabeth Kennaugh at present of the Parish of Kk German do hereby own and acknowledge to have received from the hands of Mr. William Moore of Kk Braddan executor in trust of the Will of Margaret Oates deceased, all such sums of money as I became entitled to by the said will and I do hereby exonerate and discharge the said William Moore his executors, administrators and assigns from any further claims or demand to which I am in any wise entitled under and by virtue of the said will of the said Margaret Oates deceased, hearing date the 4 day of April 1816. As witness my name this 25th day of May 1824. [signed Elizabeth Kennaugh her mark] Witnesses: W Kinley & Hugh Quirk. At St John's Chapel. Whereas Margret Oates of the Parish of St Ann did by her said will appoint William Moore of the Parish of Kk Braddan executor in trust of her will and also by her will did leave twenty pounds Manks between John Moore's children of the town of Douglas and appointed their uncle Thomas Moore of Sulbrick guardian over the said children, I the said Thomas Moore do hereby acknowledge to have received from the said William Moore in full the said sum of twenty pounds, and do hereby give a full discharge unto the said William Moore for the said sum as witness on my hand this 31st of May 1817.
