Archdeacon Will 1811 #74 & #78, Maughold, of William Callow of Claughbane, made 2 September 1800 & June 1811 (the Codicil):

"In the name of God, amen. I William Callow of Claughbane in the Parish of Maughold being well advanced in age, but of sound mind memory and understanding & considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and to avoid disputes after my decease do make this my last will and testament in manner following, vizt: First, I commend my soul to God, and my body to Christian burial. Item, I leave and bequeath unto my son Thomas Callow & daughters Margaret Callow & Ann Cowle als Callow the sum of ten pounds each as legacy. Item, I leave and bequeath unto my daughters Elizabeth Callow and Elinor Callow the sum of one hundred pounds each as legacy. Item, I leave and bequeath unto my son Philip Moore Callow & daughter Mary Killey als Callow the sum of five shillings each, they being already pledged for. Item, I give devise and bequeath that House now occupied by Philip Clark situated in the town of Ramsey on part of Nicholson’s Quarterland unto my daughters Elizabeth Callow & Elinor Callow equally. And lastly, I do nominate constitute and appoint my daughters Elizabeth Callow and Elinor Callow sole and whole Executrices and residuary legatees of all the rest of my goods cash bills, bonds credits and effects of what kind or nature soever and six pence to any person who can legally claim any right to my effects. At an Ecclestical Court holden at Ramsey 20^th December 1811: Thomas Cubbon clerk one of the witnesses to the before going last will and testament of William Callow of Claughbane being sworn on the holy Evangelists deposeth and saith that the Testator when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding signed published and declared the before going paper writing as for his last will and testament, and desired that the Deponent and the other witness William Christian to witness the same, and this Deponent and the other witness did sign the same as witnesses. Whereupon the Executrices are sworn in Court in form of Law and to be true and just the one to the other in the division of the residue of the Estate and have given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely William Sayle of Ramsey and William Corlett of said Town. #78 Codicil portion :: Whereas I have for the purposes of Family arrangements charged and encumbered my Estates of Claughbane and Ballacowle with a Mortgage of twelve thousand pounds British to my daughter Mary Killey, and have taken her bond for the said sum, now my will is, and I do hereby leave devise and bequeath the amount of the said bond both principal and interest to my said daughter Mary Killey. As witness my name this xxx day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven. [signed] Wm: Callow. At an Ecclesiastical Court holden at Ramsey 20^th December 1811: William Sayle and William Corlett witnesses to the within codicil being sworn on the holy Evangelists severally depose and say that the said William Callow duly executed the said paper writing as and for a codicil to his the said William Callow’s last will and testament, whereupon the same is ordered and adjudged to be a codicil and to be annexed as such to his last will and testament. [signed] Danl. Mylrea. This is to Certify that I have served Mrs. Ann Cowle & Mrs. Mary Killey with the Petition of Elizabeth Callow and Elinor Callow and the Revd. Archdeacon Mylrea’s order thereon, and also charged them as dexxxts. And also charged William Corlet & William Sayle as witnesses all of Maughold to appear at an Ecclesiastical Court to be holden in the Court house in Ramsey on Friday the 20^th day of December Instant, when called to answer the suit of the said Elizabeth Callow and Elinor Callow. Thomas Cubbon one of the witnesses to the before going last will and testament of william Callow of Claughbane being sworn on the holy Evangelists deposeth and saith that the said Testator William Callow being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding signed published and declared the before going paper writing as and for his last will and testament on the day and year therein set forth and desired this Deponent and William Christian the other witness, to be witnesses to his said will, and this Deponent and Wm Christian the other witness at the request and in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of one another subscribed their names as witnesses thereto. AB & CD – witnesses to the before going codicil being sworn on the holy Evangelists severally depose and say that the Testator william Callow of Claughbane when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding signed and declared the before going paper writing to be a codicil to be annexed to his last will and testament. And that the Deponents subscribed their names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of one another, and the said paper juritis is received as a codicil to the last will and testament of the Testator accordingly."
