In the name of God, amen. I Isabella Oates alias Gelling of the parish of KK Braddan, widow of the late Thomas Oates of the said parish, being of sound mind and memory and understanding, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament. First, I commit my soul to Almighty God and recommend my body to be decently interred by my Executor hereinafter mentioned. I next leave and bequeath to my eldest son John Oates the sum of five shillings. Second, I leave devise and bequeath to my loving daughter Catharine Mylechreest the sum of ten pounds provided she make no other claim. But should she presumptuously make any other claim, I make the said bequeathment of ten pounds null and void by my executor paying her the said Catharine Mylechreest the sum of five shillings. Third, I leave and bequeath to my loving daughter Isabella Fayle the sum of ten pounds. I leave and bequeath to my before mentioned daughter Catharine Mylechreest a bed quilt. Fourth, I leave and bequeath to my two daughters Catharine Mylechreest and Isabella Fayle all my wearing apparel both linen and woolen, to be dived equally between them. Fifth, I leave and bequeath to my dutiful son Edward Oates all the rest and residue of my goods and effects of what nature whatsoever or where the same may be found. And to all claimers two shillings. And lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint my said son Edward Oates my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament as witness my subscription this 2nd day of September 1801. At an Ecclesiastical Court holden in the Parish of KK Patrick 18th December 1801, the Executor is sworn in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the will. Know all men by these presents that we Patrick Mylechreest & John Fayle have received from Edward Oates of Braddan the sum of ten pounds legacy each being left by their mother Isable Oates als Gelling to each of their wives being her daughters. Likewise received by me John Oates the sum of five shillings legacy from said Edward Oates executor. Received this 13th day of March 1802.
