Archdeaconal Will 1779 #1 Lonan of John Quay,

"The last will and testament of John Quay of the Parish of Lonan who departed this life on or about the 22d of Novr 1778 being sick, but of perfect and sound disposing mind and memory, first committing his soul to God and body to Christian burial as to his worldly goods & effects he bequeathed them as follow. First, he left to his eldest son William half the corn, half the husbandry gears and a plow beast and in consideration of which his said son is to pay his three sisters namely Ann, Margt, and Mary the sum of thirty pounds equally between them and in case his said son Wm would not be satisfied with the legacy as above said, he was to have no more but half the husbandry gears. Item, he left and bequeathed twenty shillings to his son John. Item, he left to Ann Cannell his granddaughter a sheep and a lamb and further left six pence legacy to any person or persons that would claim any right to his effects hereafter. And lastly nominated and appointed his loving wife Ann Quay whole executor of all the rest of his goods and effects of what kind or nature soever, and also to pay the above sum of thirty pounds to her three daughters equally between them in case the son be not satisfied as aforesaid. Witnesses: Wm Crow, John Kneale my X, jurati.

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglass June 2d 1779: The Executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law & hath give pledges for the payment of debts and legacies vizt., the witnesses of the will. Probatum est, solvit 12d. Thos.Cubbon.

I John Quay son of the within Testator John Quay do hereby acknowledge to be fully paid the legacy of twenty shillings bequeathed me by my father John Quay as by and from the hands of my mother Ann Quay and I do hereby release exonerate and discharge my said mother Ann Quay her executors administrators and assigns of said legacy as witness my subscription this 28th Decr 1782. [signed] John Quay.

I Ann Quay one of the daughters of the within Testator John Quay do hereby acknowledge to have received my proportion or shave of the sum of thirty pounds bequeathed by my said father John Quay equally between his three daughters, as by and from the hands of my mother Ann Quay and I do hereby release discharge exonerate and acquit my said mother Ann Quay her executors administrators and assigns of my proportion of said legacy of thirty pounds as witness my mark to my name this 28th Decr 1782. Ann Quay her X mark. Before me, Thos Cubbon, ArReg."
