"In the name of God, amen. I Patrick Shimin of Casteltown do make this my last will and testament as follows. First, I commend my soul to God and my body to a Christian burial. Secondly, I leave and bequeath to my granddaughter Jane Shimin daughter to my son John Shimin the sum of five pounds. Thirdly, I leave and bequeath unto my grandson John Shimin son of my said son John the sum of five pounds. Fourthly, I leave and bequeath unto my son Edward Shimin now in Ireland the sum of five shillings and my best boat if my said son chooses to come for the same. Fifthly and lastly, I nominate constitute authorize and appoint my dutiful and loving son John Shimin and Ann his wife my Executors of all the rest of my goods moveable and immoveable hereby excluding and debarring all and every other person or persons who shall claim any right or xxx thereto with the sum of six pence. At a Court of Correction holden at Castletown, February 5th, 1777: The Executor is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the will."
