KK Braddan: This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Robert Waterson of Ballapodag in the parish of KK Braddan, who departed this life about the 11th day of April 1775, being of good and disposing mind and memory at the making thereof. First, he commended his soul to God and his body to decent & Christian burial. 2ndly, he bequeathed to his son Thomas Waterson the sum of five shillings. 3rdly, he devised to his daughter Margaret Oates als Waterson the sum of five shillings. 4thly, he bequeathed to his son John Waterson the like sum of five shillings, & his right of all the sheep which he had in the parish of KK Lonan. 5thly, he left and devised to his daughter Esther Waterson the sum also of five shillings. 6thly and lastly, he nominated, constituted, and appointed his affectionate wife Mary Waterson als Cowin sole and whole executrix of all the remainder of his goods, chattels, and effects of whatever kind, nature or denomination; excluding any person or persons that might pretend claim or right to the same with six pence legacy. Witnesses: Charles Cowle, William Craine.
At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas June xx, 1775, the executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the will. July 24, 1776, This day Esther Waterson daughter of Robert Waterson acknowledged to have received and be fully paid the sum of five shillings a legacy bequeathed her by her said father Robert Waterson and she does hereby acquit, release and discharge the executrix of said Robert Waterson her father, her executors, administrators, and assigns of said legacy. Witness her mark to her name the day and day above written. [signed her mark] Esther Waterson. Before me [signed] Thomas Cubbon Archdeacon Registry.
