Archdeacon Wills 1784 #153, Lezayre, of John Wattleworth of Maughold:

‘This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of John Watleworth of the parish of KK Maughold, being of sound mind and memory at the making hereof on the 3rd April 1784, and the meaning thereof written 5th Instant, as follows: First, he committed his soul to God and his body to Christian burial. Item, he left to his two daughters vizt., Margaret (wife of Edward Cudd) and Mary (wife of John Lord) the sum of twenty shillings apiece. Lastly, he nominated appointed and ordained his only son John Wattleworth whole and sole executor of all the rest of his goods movable and immovable whatsoever. Witnesses: Robert Kneals, Patrick Knickel.

At a Chapter Court holden at Lezayre June 25th, 1784, the executor is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the will. I Edward Cudd do hereby acknowledge to have received the sum of twenty shillings as legacy bequeathed my wife Margaret by the last will and testament of her father John Wattleworth, and I do hereby acquit release exonerate and discharge the executors of the last will and testament of said John Wattleworth of all and every part of said legacy of twenty shillings. Witness my mark to my name this 10th January 1788. [signed his mark] Edward Cudd.’
