Archdeacon Will 1769 2nd Bk #55,German, of Mabel Radcliffe als Cross, widow of Richard Radcliffe:

"In the name of God, amen. I Mabel Radcliffe als Cross relict of Richard Radcliffe of Peeltown, being by God’s blessing of sound and perfect mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do hereby make this my last will and testament as followeth. First, I commit my soul to Almighty God & my body to Christian burial. 2ndly, I leave and bequeath one guinea towards purchasing a decent cloth or cushion for the pulpit of St. Peter’s Church in Peeltown. Item, I leave to John, Richard & Cathrine children of my nephew John Saint half a guinea each. Item, I leave to William, John & Philip Gell sons of William Gell of Castletown by my late niece Ellinor Gell his wife the sum of twenty one pounds to be equally divided between them. Item, I leave further to the said John Gell son of the said William Gell all my houses, backside, & garden at Knockbane likewise. Item, I leave my cousin Matthew Crellin of Beary a crown British. Item, I leave to the maid servant Catharine Cannel the quilt blanket & sheet that is on the bed where she lieth, also an old quilted petticoat. Item, I leave to Cathrine (Oliver is crossed out) Stone als Radcliffe half a guinea. Lastly, I do nominate & appoint my nephew John Saint of Castletown to be whole and sole Executor of all the rest of my goods and effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever, And excluding all other person or persons that may pretend to claim further right to my goods & effects with six pence legacy apiece. In witness whereof I have hereunto set or affixed my mark to my name this 28th of December 1768. [signed her mark] Mabel Radcliffe als Cross. Witnesses: Thomas Cubbon, Matthew Shimmin.

At a Chapter Court holden at Peeltown October 27, 1769: The Executor is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for payment of debts and legacies namely William Quine of KK Patrick & Thomas Cubbon of Peeltown."
