In the name of God Amen
I William Lidderdale of Peeltown being at present weak in body but
of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament
first I commit my soul to God and my body to the earth to be decently
buried in Peel Castle
2dly I appoint that all my goods and effects of what nature soever, shall in a short
time of my decease be sold by publick auction to the minutist part thereof
to pay all my just debts that I owe in this Isle, wch I desire may be done
without entering any claim, suit or prosecution in the spiritual court and that
the same may be sold by George Williams of Peeltown into whose care I
commit my whole goods and effects of what kind or nature soever to be sold as
aforesaid and that the said George Williams receive the debts owing me and
that the said George Williams pay all my just debts in this Isle so far as the
said goods and effects shall answer without any suit at law
3rdly I nominate and appoint Elinor Maddrel my exectrix of all the residue
and remainder of my wordly goods within this Isle to be given her by said
George Williams after my debts are paid, I herby declare that on the eighth day
of October last I took an inventory of what effects said Elinor Maddrel
had in my house which I that day signed, witness my hand this 28 Jan 1765

Robt Black one of the claimers in behalf of himself & of a a company having proved the sum of Forty one pounds nineteen shillings & seven pence halfpenny Brittish. William Lidderdale, deputy searcher & Captain of Peeltown bur German 28 Jan 1765, wife Mary Lidderdale buried Malew 17 Oct 1756.
He was appointed by Governor Cochrane who wrote "As I have for some time suspected that Capt Murray was not carefull of the affairs of Peeltown as he ought to have been I am to bring him to Castletown to have him under my own eye and to send one Mr Lidderdale in his place who I expect will be more watchfull of your Grace's affairs" - Capt Murray he later described as a drunkard. Lidderdale soon fell foul of George Moore who accused him of being officious.
