At a consistory court holden at Ballnyhowin 24th May 1765 Douglas Elizabeth Charles als Lewhellin wife of Capt Wm Charles mariner having departed this life on or about the 8th day of March last past intestate leaving one child named Catherine, who is also since dead. The court upon intelligence thereof hath declared William Lewhellin only brother of the said Elizabeth and uncle to the said Catharine on the mother's side sole adminr of the goods, chattels & effects as well of the said Elizabeth his sister as also of the said Catharine his niece - the sd William Lewhellin being abroad out of the Island, his father Roger Lewhellin together with his son-in-law the sd Capt William Charles are sworn to bring to the registry a true & perfect inventory of the goods chattels & effects of the said Elizabeth Lewhellin & Catherine her daughter, both decd as also to pay all their just debts and to be just to the said Wm Lewhellin the above named adminr in the administration of the sd goods & effects - Pledges are Capt James Oates & Mr Robt Caesar both of Douglas decretum est solvit Ro Radcliffe 24 May 1765 Capt James Oates & Mr Hugh Cosnahan merchant enters a claim agt the admrs of Elizabeth Charles & Catharine Lewhellin his daughter for the sum of £110 0 0 British & craves the law - John Gill dep Epl Regr 25 May 1765 Mr Roger Haydock enters a claim agt the admrs of Eliz Charles & Cath her daughter for £11 6 6 long inventory tba
