Archdeacon Wills 1764 #2, Braddan, of Elizabeth Hampton als Quine of Braddan:

‘In the name of God, Amen. The last will and testament of Elizabeth Hampton als Quine of the parish of KK Braddan, who was of sound mind and perfect memory at the making thereof, and departed this life about the tenth day of November 1763. First, she committed her soul to God and her body to Christian burial. Item, she left to her husband a horse. Also she left to her son Matthias forty shillings legacy. She also left to her son Nicholas forty shillings legacy. She also left to her son Robert ten pounds legacy. She also left to her daughter Margaret a little heifer and her long cloak. She also left to her granddaughter vizt, the youngest of Isable children ten shillings legacy. She also left to the poor people of the parish ten shillings legacy. Lastly, she nominated and appointed her daughter Cathrine sole executrix of all the rest of her goods moveable or immoveable of what kind or nature soever.

At witness our names and marks his 6th day of December 1763. Witnesses: Margaret Curphy als Cowley, Margaret Moore als Corkill.

At a Court of Correction holden in KK Marown, Feb. 13, 1764, the executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law and has given pledges for payment of debts and legacies namely Thomas Hampton her father & Robert Cottier of KK Marown.

Lezayre 27th May 1766, this day Matthias Hampton, Nicholas Hampton & Robert Hampton sons of the within named Testatrix Elizabeth Hampton als Quine late of the Parish of KK Braddan came to the Registry and acknowledged that we have each and every of us received at and from the hands of our sister Catharine Hampton executrix of our said mother’s last will and testament the several and respective legacies left and bequeathed unto us and each and every of us by our said deceased mother, that is to say, I the said Matthias Hampton have received the sum of forty shillings legacy, I the said Nicholas Hampton have received the sum of forty shillings legacy, and I the said Robert Hampton have received the sum of ten pounds legacy. And we the said Matthias, Nicholas and Robert Hampton do each and every of us hereby release acquit and discharge our said sister Catharine Hampton her executors, administrators and assigns of the said several legacies forever, as witness our subscriptions the day and date above written. [signed] Matthias Hampton, Nicholas Hampton, Robert Hampton.’
