The last will and testament of Isabell Christian als Killy, wife of John Christian of Peeltown, cooper, who departed this life at or upon the 4th February 1763, being of sound mind and perfect memory, uttering as follows . . . She bequeathed unto her only child John Christian, four pounds, and hoped he would take his fathers trade (a cooper). Otherwise he was to have the four pounds to put him to any other trade, provided he lived and in case he did not, the said four pounds was to descend to her loving husband John Christian. She bequeathed unto her sisters daughter all her wearing apparrel both linnen and woolen. She would pay seven pounds for them, otherwise they were to be her loving husband John Christians property. And lastly, she nominated and appointed her dear and loving husband John Christian whole and sole executor of all the rest of her effects . . . At court of correction holden at . . . February 25, 1763: the executor is sworn in court in forms of law and has given pledges for payment of debts and legacies namely Thomas xxx[?] and Daniel Clark of Peeltown.
